Learn how to knit this beautiful one-skein shawl from the designer who created it - Sydney-based knitwear designer Vera Marcu.

Based on the traditional Shetland Cockleshell stitch pattern, the 'Fichu' is long and narrow, easy to wear and fun to knit. You'll knit your shawl using beautiful hand-dyed alpaca/silk/cashmere yarn ~ a perfect addition to your wardrobe or a gorgeous gift to someone dear. 

In this workshop, we will go through all the steps and skills necessary to knit Cockle Shell Fichu.

Whether you're ready to design your own jumper from scratch or want to learn more about garment knitting in general, this class taught by Sydney-based knitwear designer Vera Marcu isn't one to be missed!

“I love this yarn but what to knit with it?” Has this ever happened to you? Do you have sweater quantities of all sorts of beautiful yarns but can’t find a pattern? Maybe it’s time to learn how to design your own jumper.

Drop shoulder designs are versatile and simple in construction. They can look casual, dressy, ornamental or plain and best of all, they can be a vehicle for unlimited creativity. The fact that they are basically rectangles with tubes for sleeves means that opportunities for fabric exploration are numerous. Lace, cables and colour work are much easier to experiment with as there aren’t too many places where one needs to shape the fabric.

In this class we will discuss:

• Yarn choices

• Ease

• Shaping

• Swatching

• Basic math

• Taking measurements

• Calculating gauge and using it

The advantages and disadvantages of this construction will be discussed and several modifications explained.

At the conclusion of this workshop, you should be able to plan and execute your own drop shoulder jumper design.

Join us for a fun Christmas workshop and learn new skills + techniques.

Over three classes you'll be guided through creating your very own Nordic Christmas Gnome. This 3-part workshop will be lots of fun and you'll learn so much along the way: stranded colourwork knitting, shaping, seaming and how to achieve a beautiful finish on your knitted items.

Your ticket includes 3 x 2 hour sessions, 1 x Red Nordic Gnome Kit and wool stuffing ~ just grab a pair of knitting needles and you're good to go!

Crochet an adorable gnome in this fun all-day workshop.

These little crocheted gnomes are super fun to create and make great decorations. Choose festive colours and turn your gnome into a hanging ornament or go for bright tones for a gnome you can display all year.

During this class, you'll learn how to create a gnome using Amigurumi crochet techniques, including Magic Ring, continuous crochet in-the-round, invisible decreases and more.

Included in your ticket is the Crocheted Gnome kit in your chosen colours (4 balls of yarn, wool filling, pattern & stitch markers). You'll need to bring a 3mm crochet hook and a wool/tapestry needle (these can be purchased separately in-store).

When: Saturday 7th of October, 10:30am - 3:30pm
This all-day workshop is run in 2 x 2 hours blocks (10:30 - 12:30, 1:30 - 3:30).  
We'll break for a 1 hour at lunchtime - stroll up to Land & Sea Brewery for lunch; we're also a 3-minute drive from a broad selection of eateries on Gympie Terrace.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the class - this gives you time to choose your colours and settle in.

Discover the wonderful world of colourwork knitting! In this class, you'll be taught stranded colourwork (the same technique used in traditional Fair Isle knitting).

During the class, you'll knit a sampler square featuring patterns in the traditional Fair Isle style, learning how to knit with two colours at once, read a colourwork chart and carry yarn across the back of the work. You'll also learn about what yarns to use to get the best results out of your colourwork knitting.
