Novels & Coffee Table Books

Emily Goes to Exeter by M C Beaton
The Travelling Matchmaker series is such a delightful one - each novel is entertaining, humorous and just a little bit mysterious which makes them very hard to put down. The characters are so well depicted and have such entertaining personalities. All in all enjoyable, lighthearted reads. The tidbits of historical facts sprinkled throughout the stories just add to the interest - and often the humour too! All of the books in the series are worth reading - I can't choose a favourite!

Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah
This is the true story of Adeline Yen Mah, growing up as the unwanted daughter in a wealthy Chinese family in the 1940's. The name 'Cinderella" was what caught my eye as a child, however it is both a heartwarming and heart wrenching tale, and has remained a life-long favourite. Whilst this book will certainly take you through a range of emotions and produce a few tears, you will love following the remarkable story of little Adeline, as she overcomes her hardships against all odds, and realises her dreams.

Find Momo & Find Momo Coast to Coast by Andrew Knapp
Two delightful "coffee table" books that are unique and beautiful. These aren't just books for Border Collie lovers; the author's photography style is fresh and beautiful, and the little stories entwined amongst the pictures are fun to discover. You can also play #findmomo on Instagram here.

All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot
James Herriot's books are delightful in every sense. His natural ability to write combined with the fascinating true stories and events of his life as a young vet in rural England in the 1930's makes these books an absolute must read. All Things Bright and Beautiful is the equally as brilliant sequel followed by All Things Wise and Wonderful. These books will make you laugh, cry and never want to put them down.

Vantastic by Kate Ulman
I've always harboured a desire to buy a retro caravan, fix it up and head off for a caravaning adventure. Kate Ulman of the delightful blog Foxs Lane had the same dream and writes about her family's adventure in this practical and inspiring book. With delicious recipes, delightful craft projects and practical advice on buying, renovating and travelling in a caravan, Vantastic is all round a lovely read.

Penguin Classics Editions of Jane Austen's Books
I've long wanted to read Jane Austen's novels, and the beautiful design of these books makes them irresistible. I have began by reading Pride & Prejudice and am absolutely in love. I haven't enjoyed a book so much for so many years. In my collection is also EmmaSense & Sensibility and Persuasion which I am very excited to read.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Whether you've read the novel or not, we've all heard of this delightful tail, and most of us have seen at least one of the 3 films. This is a delightful edition by Penguin Classics, with a beautiful cloth bound cover - a book to be treasured for ever!
