A Fresh Year

It feels good to be writing a blog post at the beginning of a New Year. January is a bit of a funny month. It’s the middle of summer yet the start of the year. It feels slow and considered after the crazy pace of December, as around me the days are long and hot, with families holidaying, cicadas singing and everyone getting ready for another year.

One of my favourite things about a New Year is starting a new diary. I love stationary and a new diary is something I look forward to every year. This year my diary is from Australian brand Bespoke Letterpress, and so far I’m loving it. It’s made in Australia on a vintage printing press and is beautifully bound in linen with gold foil detailing on the front. Inside the pages are spacious and calm - which is just as well as the notes I make are usually a bit messy and quickly fill the pages!

I’ve found myself picking up the camera more again lately, just snapping moments here and there. It’s a hobby I find very calming, and I hope to continue to it throughout the year. In days gone by, I would take photos daily, amounting to hundreds in a week! Do you like to take photos? Do you get out a camera or snap on your phone?

I’ve yet to cast on anything new for the year, but instead have been finishing up WIPs. I’m almost project-free so will be casting on something new soon. I think my WIPs deserve a blog post all of their own, so I will save them for another day. (Pictured above is the Footsie Sock).

I’ve resumed my work this week with both Say! Little Hen & Yarnologie and I’ve been enjoying immensely. It’s always good to come back after a break full of fresh ideas and energy.
I hope you have had a good start to the New Year - even if it’s taken a different shape than usual, as it has for many of us.

Until next time,
Sarah
