Meet the Yarn Monday: Gossyp 4ply

As promised, each week I'm going more in-depth about one of our yarns with Meet the Yarn Monday.

In case you missed last week's edition and you're wondering what on earth Meet the Yarn Monday is, here is a little summary:

"When it comes to sharing yarn with you I like to give as much information as possible so that you can choose the best yarn for your project.  I know we often shop on colour alone (who can resist a gorgeous skein!) but I also know that when you're after certain results for your project, knowing more about a yarn goes a long way towards achieving those results.

With all this in mind Meet the Yarn Monday is a series where I go a bit more in-depth about a certain yarn."

I hope you enjoy today's yarn meeting - keeping with our summer theme, today we’re exploring KPC Gossyp 4ply.

This yarn is also 100% GOTS certified organic cotton, in a lovely light fingering weight.
Each ball comes tied up with a ribbon and its own GOTS certification tag.

I love this yarn and have used it for many projects. The colour range is beautiful and the yarn is deliciously soft. It also washes and wears incredibly well.

About the Fibre

Organically grown cotton is softer than other cotton and it's a lot kinder on the environment. Aside from not using nasty pesticides that impact the environment and the farmers, organically grown cotton also takes less water to grow.

KPC Gossyp 4ply is a lovely fingering-weight yarn perfect for both knitting & crochet. It's extra soft, making it suitable for babies and ideal for wearing next to your skin. And the colour range is beautiful.
Organic cotton is an excellent choice if you're looking for a yarn that is sustainable, breathable, soft yet hard-wearing and easy to care for.

Working with Cottonwood

Gossyp is very soft cotton with a surprising amount of drape, making it ideal for summer garments. Despite the softness, it’s low-pilling and still as hard-wearing as another cotton.

I've got so many beautiful projects to show you with this yarn!
One of my favourites is my Adira Top that I made last year. This top (pictured above) is light and breezy and oh-so-soft - I love wearing it. In summer I pair it with shorts or tuck it into a high waisted skirt. During Autumn I combine it with jeans and one of my hand-knit shawls.

I shared the project details & more photos of my Adira top here.

The other top I've knitted using Gossyp 4ply was this vintage Chevron top (below). I wear this during Autumn & Spring as I have to wear a camisole underneath. You can see below how beautiful the stitch pattern comes up in Gossyp.
For this top I used the colour Beetroot and the pattern is from the book Knit Vintage.

Another really fun project I've used Gossyp 4ply for is face washers.

I had a ball playing with colours for these and ended up knitting a whole stack. Because this yarn is so soft yet easy-care it makes the nicest face washers!

I made these on 5mm needles holding 3 strands of Gossyp together at once. This created a deliciously soft, thick textured washer and made knitting them really quick. But the best part was the colour play!

Combining different colours in multi-strand knitting is something I've always loved.

Above I've used a strand of Rosie, Flamingo & Lunar together.

Grab a couple of balls of your favourite colours and have fun mixing and matching! You might just discover a new colour combo you love.

Another favourite summer top knit in Gossyp is Reef. I blogged all about this project here.

I hope you’ve enjoyed learning a little more about this delightful yarn.

I’ll be back next week with another yarn for you to meet!

Until then, happy making!

Sarah
